What Constitutes a Trained Leader? The National requirements have changed starting 2011. The requirements are that all Top Leaders (Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, and Venture Advisors) must complete ALL their training by Dec 31, 2011 and all Direct Contact Leaders (Den Leaders and all Assistant Cub, Scout, and Venture leaders) must complete their training by Dec 31 2012. If a leader does not complete their required training by the above dates then they will not be reregistered the following year or until they do complete all the required training. The important thing to remember is that a completed training session does not count until it is recorded with the Registrar at the Scout Service Center. You may check your training record by going to the National Web site www.myscouting.org. The E-Learning portal has a Training Validation link which will show all the training you have taken and is recorded. You will have to have your user name or membership number to get into the link. Now what constitutes a fully trained leader? Some of the training sessions are done on the computer at the On-Line Center (OLC) at www.scouting.org. Other sessions are done eye ball to eye ball in the District or Council (LCT) level. The web site for training is: www.scouting.org Once there, each person will need to set up an account on the "MyScouting" tab, then look for training under the volunteers link. If they are new and do not have their member number yet, ask them to print the training certificates and bring them to the sessions in October. They will need Fast Start for their position, Youth Protection and This Is Scouting completed to be considered fully trained. These sessions are an introduction to Cub Scout Leadership and are for all new parents that are going to be Den Leaders, Cubmasters, Assistants, etc. Listed below are the closest options. Other locations are available and listed on the Council's website (go to Calendar).
